Miscanthus × giganteus
 
Giant Miscanthus. Clumping perennial grass. A sterile hybrid of Miscanthus sinensis and Miscanthus sacchariflorus.
 
Produces abundant biomass and gets as much as 10 feet tall. Makes a great privacy screen and windbreak.
 
Drought tolerant. Dies down in winter but the senescent brown foliage will remain standing if not cut down.
 
Sold as a bare root piece (rhizome) with at least one growing tip. A crown piece is larger, with 2-3 growing tips and will establish faster than a root piece.
