Althaea officinalis
Perennial. Commonly known as marsh mallow or marshmallow.
Medicinal and edible plant. Appearance is similar to a hollyhock with flowering spires.
Leaves are often cooked and eaten.
Marshmallow leaf and root are used by some for pain and swelling (inflammation) of the mucous membranes that line the respiratory tract.
Sold as a bare root crown.
