Amorpha fruticosa
Deciduous shrub. Also called River Indigo and Indigo Bush.
Nectary and pollinator shrub. Nitrogen fixer, suitable for companion planting in food forests where the shrub will be managed via chop and drop to keep it at a suitable height. Grows up to 12 feet tall and wide and can be planted densely to form a warm season windbreak.
Tolerant of many soil types and conditions. Can thrive in moist soil.
Requires cold, moist stratification. Sow seeds outdoors in fall, 1/8" deep. Seeds will sprout in springtime.
