Key Characteristics:

 

Edible Fruits: The Che tree produces small, berry-like fruits that resemble mulberries. These fruits have a sweet, somewhat tart flavor with a hint of melon.


Ornamental Value: Maclura tricuspidata is a deciduous tree with attractive foliage and interesting bark. It can be a striking addition to any landscape.


Historical Significance: As the name "Silkworm Thorn" suggests, this tree has been used for centuries to feed silkworms.

 

To germinate, soak the seeds in hot water for 24 hours, cold stratify for 60-90 days before sowing 1/4" deep.
